Mars is made of Chocolate

There were two pigeons called Bertie and Lily.

They lived in an old rickety shed in Rome



They were fed up living in Rome, so they sat down on one of the big statues to talk about where they could move to.

"Where shall we go" said Lily.
"We could go to London" said Bertie.


"No, I don't think so"  said Lily. " Because it is too dirty and busy like Rome."

"We could go to the seaside" said Bertie.


 "I like the seaside, but I don't like all the Seagulls." said Lily.



"They are nasty, horrible birds. I want to go somewhere completely different" she added.

The two pigeons sat on the top of the Colosseum as the sun went down.


They were still sitting there as night fell over the big city.



Lily was just dozing off to sleep, when Bertie poked her with his beak.
"Lily ". said Bertie. " We could go to live on the moon".


No, I don't like cheese" said Lily sleepily.

"What " replied Bertie.

"You are a silly pigeon. Don't you know the moon is made of cheese." she replied closing her eyes again.

Bertie sat looking at the sky. I wonder if there is another planet we could go to he thought.

He couldn't sleep so he began pecking around a pile of  rubbish near where they were sleeping.

In the remains of a picnic he found an old sandwich and a MARS BAR.



He flew back to Lily.
" I have got it. We  can go to MARS"........

Lily was just waking up, she rubbed her eyes.
"But we will  need to build a spaceship to get there."



"We will have to convince some pigeons to help us." said Bertie.
Lily began to fly round the Colosseum inviting them to come along to a meeting.
 
 

Lily and Bertie told all the other pigeons their plan to build a spaceship.
Some flew away saying it was a stupid idea. But some stayed to help.

A very clever pigeon called Leonardo said he could help.
" We need to find lots of old things to make the spaceship" he said







Bertie, Lily and Leonardo worked very hard for a month to build their amazing SPACESHIP.

They even built a food dispenser as it is a long way to Mars,

When they had finished they flew with the rocket to the top of St Peter's Church.

The next morning, very early they put on their space helmets, climbed in the spaceship.

When all the pigeons were inside ready to go, they started the countdown

Then they had LIFT OFF !


They flew to Mars, eating their supplies on the way.

It took a few weeks to get there.. but they were all very happy and sang songs all the way there.

One day looking out of the cockpit window they saw MARS

HURRAY, they said all jumping up and down.

"Right" said Leonardo. "Lets get ready to land on MARS.
They could not believe their eyes when they landed because they discovered MARS is made of chocolate.


They were all very happy and lived there for a long, long time.

Lottie the singing Cow

Say hello to Lottie
She is a  brown and white cow.
Lottie is a bit different from other cows because she likes to sing. She sings the morning,

She sings in the afternoon

and she sings at night which sends everyone to sleep

In fact, she sings all the time, except when she was eating or sleeping.

Sometimes the other cows got fed up with her singing.


The other cows liked to jump and play in the field but Lottie liked to sing too.

She sang all sorts of different songs, happy ones and sad ones.

Barnaby the farmer's son always played music in the dairy when he was milking the cows, and he sang along to them too.

That was how Lottie discovered she could sing. She listened to him singing and began to sing along.

She sang to herself most of the time because her singing upset some of the other cows.

But sometimes she forgot herself and sang very loudly.

One day she thought she was all on her own she was singing very very loudly.





Just as that moment a girl called Susie cycled by. She decided to rest by the gate which led into the meadow. At first she could not believe her ears but she stood listening and watched the pretty brown cow singing her heart out.

The girls name was Susie. She was a singer too so she knew just how well Lottie could sing. Climbing back onto her bike she cycled as fast as she could to the farm.


When she got there she was so out of breath that she
Could hardly tell the farmer about his cow.

He just laughed, and said " Don't be silly none of my cows can sing. You are pulling my leg"

Susie smiled and said " Well never mind, even if she doesn't sing I want to buy her because she is such a pretty cow. How much do you want for her?

The farmer laughed again. These daft town folk, what will they come up with next? He thought.
" She looks the same as all the other cows if you ask me, but if you want her you can have her for £100 "

" That's fine," said Susie smiling. " I will be back to pick her up this afternoon. "


The farmer laughed as she cycled off. she is the silly cow he thought as he watched her ride away. She won't even know which cow she wants when she comes back.

But Susie was not that silly either. She went back to the field. She leant her bike against the gate and climbed over . She began to sing as she walked across the field.

Lotte came bounding over to greet her, so happy that somebody was singing.

Susie stroked Lottie's nose ad tied a ribbon around her neck.
"You are going to come and live with my animals," Susie said. "And you can sing every day".




Susie came back with her horsebox later that afternoon to collect Lottie.

Now Lottie lives on Susie's Farm, and they sing all the time
